Reports to, and receives assistance, from : Arts Program Coordinator

 

Essential Responsibilities Include:

As an Art Teacher:

Instruction in any and all areas of art and design curriculum across all grades.

Teaching the practical and theory of the NIOS Painting syllabus.

Curriculum design and implementation and adequate preparation, in advance, for a detailed lesson. Writing unit plans and weekly lesson plans in collaboration with the coordinator; to execute at the school premises each week.

Organizing the classroom and learning resources and a positive learning environment.

Marking and providing feedback to parents on student progress.

Assessing each student based on their strengths and needs in alignment with their IEP and Vision Statement. Meeting requirements for assessments, records, and student reports.

Integrating the arts curriculum with the multidisciplinary learning units or with other subjects when relevant and beneficial to the students.

Attend teachers’ meetings and periodic workshops; participate in arrangements for his/her further training and professional development as an art teacher.

Reviewing from time to time his/her methods of teaching and programs of work.

Maintaining good order and discipline among the students in accordance with the policies of employing authorities and safeguarding their health and safety both when they are authorized to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorized school activities elsewhere.

Helping the school organize the arts department events.

Additional Responsibilities:

Understand the potential and skills of each student and guide individual students according to their skills.

Maintain student behavioral standards to ensure a productive and disciplined environment during individual and group learning.

Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for students.

In addition to the above, performing all those functions that might be necessary in order to ensure that the school’s services are of the nature and quality that will help fulfill its founding vision.

Stay up to date with the latest teaching practices and incorporate the use of technology whenever suitable while keeping in mind the specific needs and abilities of the students.

The ideal candidate should:

Be creative and have the willingness to learn on the job.

Possess relevant academic credentials and teaching experience.

Support the arts department in driving Gateway’s arts program.

Highly collaborative and willing to work in a team environment.

Time Commitments and Qualifications:

This is a full-time position. The candidate is expected to work at the school campus from Monday–Friday, 8 am–4 pm.

Fluency in English.

Minimum 1 year experience working with children/ teaching art.

Art Teacher
