Abhishek Panchal

Abhishek is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Art Education from Boston University (2019-21). He is the Arts Coordinator and Visual Arts teacher at Gateway. As an accomplished visual artist himself who works with ink, fibre, and objects, he is certified to teach the IGCSE Visual Arts & Design curriculum. Prior to joining GSoM, Abhishek has worked with three art organisations in multiple capacities. As a recipient of the Gateway School’s teacher scholarship award in 2019 and the Tata research grant in the past,

Abhishek’s interest lies in arts leadership/research, developing curriculum/professional development, and multicultural arts education.

He is an ardent advocate for arts integration and technology.

When not living in the world of arts as an artist and teacher, Abhishek enjoys watching plays, reading, yoga, cooking, and conversations about spiritual/mental/emotional health over a cup of chai.

Aditi Dalal

Aditi holds a BA in Psychology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She received a Distinction at Grade 8 in Speech and Drama and holds an Associate Trinity College London diploma in Communication Skills. She has worked as a Speech and Drama teacher and Communication trainer. She also enjoys conducting Drama-based workshops with different groups.

At Gateway, she designs and teaches the Drama program and directs the Arts showcases. She is also part of the Grandstand committee, helping ambitious ideas come to life! Her latest interest has been using Drama as a teaching-learning tool.

When not teaching, creating or performing, you may catch her playing board games, dancing without music and gorging on dessert!

Aditi Ghosh

Aditi has a BTech degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Bombay and MS in Environmental Eng. from the University of Michigan. She worked for 13 years as a design consultant in Urban Infrastructure.Following this, she studied again and moved to the world of Education. She has a diploma in Special Education (for Multiple Disabilities: Physical & Neurological) from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.

She is currently the Language Program Coordinator at Gateway and teaches Language in middle and high school. She finds her daily joys in working with her students and joining along as a tiny part, in their journey of self discovery!

She is also an author of children’s books and when in the zone, can spend hours and days lost in writing. If she really has time to herself she would love to cuddle with her family on the side-berth of a long distance train, and to imagine the stories of unknown places that whiz by on the horizon.

Aditi Khanna

Aditi Khanna has an MA in Education specialising in Early Childhood Education from Azim Premji University, Bangalore and a Bachelors in Psychology from Delhi University. Prior to GSOM, she has worked as a facilitator at Prakriti School, teaching language and drama to students. She is a lower school homeroom teacher at Gateway. She teaches Language and MLU. She is a part of the Grandstand Team and Social Committee. She is also a PDP Coach, and a mentor for interns. She enjoys dancing, cooking and making people laugh ?

Afaf Siraj Kazi

Afaf has completed a B. Ed in Special Education (Intellectual Disability) from S.N.D.T college.

She joined Gateway in 2015 at a 1:1 teacher. Currently she is a High School Homeroom teacher. She also teaches Language and MLU.

In her free time, she loves listening to music. She also loves travelling and cooking 🙂

Akshada Amle Library Assistant
Akshita Jeswani

Akshita worked in advertising for 5 years before she decided to move to education. She did her BMM with Journalism Honors from Jai Hind, Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSoM, she worked as a volunteer with an NGO called The Candle Project where she taught ESL to students from less privileged backgrounds. Through this experience, she discovered her love for education and took a giant leap of faith, which led her to Gateway.

She is a highschool homeroom teacher and teaches Language, ICT and Math. She is also part of the Communications and Yearbook
teams.

Outside of school, she enjoys discovering new music, dancing like nobody’s watching her and going on solo trips without an itinerary.
Indulging in conversations with strangers amidst mountains and connecting with them over music gives her utmost joy.

Alisha Nagree

Alisha has completed a Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nair Hospital and a M.Sc. in Psychotherapy and Counseling from the Institute of Psychotherapy and Management Studies,Global Open University. Prior to joining GSOM, Alisha has worked at various hospitals, special schools, therapy and learning centers
as a Speech and Swallowing Therapist and Audiologist for over 12 years.

Alisha is a part of the Speech and Language team at Gateway, a PDP facilitator, a PDP coach and a part of the Grandstand team.

Alisha is a huge fan of reading psychological thrillers, loves doing read alouds and puppet shows for children, believes in the power of positive affirmations,loves travelling.and believes that Gateway School of Mumbai is her ” Ikigai”.

Andrea D'Costa

Andrea has a Bachelor’s in Management Studies under the University of Mumbai with a specialization in Human Resources. Prior to GSoM she has worked with a Non Banking Financial Company as a Learning & Development Coordinator. She has also interned with Air India and Door Step School, an NGO. Through some of these experiences, she discovered her interest in the field of education.

She is a High School Homeroom teacher and teaches Business Studies and Mass Communication. She is also a PDP Coach and a mentor to interns.

When not teaching, she enjoys photography; listening to podcasts; travelling with friends, reading books, and is also a history buff.

Aparna Vyavaharkar

Aparna has a MA in Cousnelling Psychilogy (Mumabai University) and a B.Ed in Special Education with a specialization in Learning Disabilities (Mumbai University). With 16 years of work experience behind her, she has worked as a psychologist with students in schools and colleges, did workshops on emotional education with corporates and young adults before she moved towards teaching.

She has also worked as a homeroom teacher at an IB school for three years before coming to GSOM.

She is passionate about teaching language and remediation and enjoys making content relevant, relatalbe and helping students make real life applications of what they learn in a classroom.

When not teaching, you can find her either listening to or going for live music concerts and plays. She also loves traveling , reading, pondering over and talking about how life works, exercsiing and watching movies.

Aradhana Maniar

Aradhana has a BSc in Occupational Therapy (Brunel University, London) and an MSc Cognitive Rehabilitation (University of Westminster, London). She has been working in the pediatric field for the past 6 years, starting in clinical practice and moving to special education in the last 3 years. Aradhana loves sensory integration and supporting students in achieving independence in
Activities of Daily living. Movement embedded learning is her latest interest!

She is a Sensory Motor Therapist at Gateway and PDP facilitator
Her hobbies include painting, colouring, dancing to bollywood music, and drinking a great cup of coffee!

Ashita Landge

Ashita holds a Bachelor’s degree in Media studies from Symbiosis institute of Media and Communications,Pune. Later, she discovered her interest in education and pursued a post graduate programme in Education from Tata institute of social sciences,Mumbai. Prior to Gateway, she has interned interned with Teach for India and works as a support teacher at Gateway. Ashita enjoys dancing and travelling with family and friends.

Bindiya Hassaram

Bindiya has a Ph.D. in Multicultural Special Education, a MA in Learnign Disabilities, and a BA in Psychology. She is very interested in
how language acquisition and development aligns with or impedes the devlopment of learning and skill acquisition. She is also intrigued by the intersection of context/culture and education. Her recent work has been with the coaching/traning of teachers, and how self-reflection plays a role in learning how to be a teacher. Prior to that, She has worked with students with learning differences
for many years.

She is the Individual Programme Coordinator at Gateway, and works with both students and teachers in optimizing learning.

In her free time, she loves to read novels, talk about philosophy/spirituality, explore educational technology, dinner with friends, her cats, coffee and sushi.

Daya Chatani

Daya has BSc degree in Psychology from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and a Postgraduate Degree in Autism and Behavioural Sciences from George Brown College (Toronto, Canada). She has also completed the AMI Primary Montessori Diploma from the Foundation for Montessori Education (Toronto, Canada). Prior to joining GSoM, she worked as an educator and program developer in special education and early child care settings in Canada. Her work included research projects, individualized program development and social skills training, with focus on autism spectrum disorder.

She is a Counselor at Gateway and also helps coordinate Internships.

Ekta Somaiya

Ekta has a degree in B.H.Sc (communication and extention) After her graduation, she got a B.Ed. degree in special education from SNDT university. Prioir to Gateway she worked at Arya Vidya Mandir, Bomday Cambridge School, Mindtemple clinic as a special educator providing remedial education and assessments while working closely and phychologists and occupational therapists and creating individuallised programs for her students. At Gateway, she is overlooking the NIOS program and teachig language. She is also part of transition planning.

Gauri Sawant (Madhavi)

Madhavi has completed Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from Sir.H.N.Hospital, Mumbai. She also done a postgraduate diploma in Hospital and Health care Management from Symbiosis University, Pune. Prior to GSoM she worked in different multispeciality hospitals as a critical care Nurse. With 16 years of working experience she has worked in different types of health care set-ups. At Gateway she plays a role of School Nurse.She enjoys Non-veg food, listening of music and spending time with her family.

Georgia Ann Misquitta

Georgia has a degree in Ancient Indian Culture from St.Xaviers College, Mumbai. She started interning at Gateway just after her graduation and fell in love with teaching and decided to take a leap of faith and follow her passion.

Gomathy Hariharan

Gomathy has a degree in industrial psychology from Vivekanand Education Society. On completion of her degree, she wanted to pursue educational development by delving deeper into curriculum development and planning. At Gateway, she teaches Humanities,EVM and Geography to students across middle school. She has also been an active member of the outreach committe in school. She enjoys planning fun activities for her classes, having dance parties with her students, exploring new places and learning new things everyday!

Indrani Chatterjee

Indrani has an M.Ed degree in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked for 28 years in the public schools in United States. She has seen special education evolve from teaching in separate resource rooms to collaborating and co-teaching with the content teachers in the classrooms. She joined Gateway in 2015 and currently works as the English teacher to 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in the NIOS stream. In addition, she is the librarian and works with all children to ignite the passion for reading. In her free time, she loves to read, visit cafes (tea or coffee), hang out with friends, walk, and travel.

Jimita Shroff

Jimita has a finance background but even has the experience in teaching since last 4 years. She has done counselling course from Heart to Heart institute of Counseling. Before being a teacher, she has worked with financial institutions like JP Morgan and Kotak.She enjoys being with children and loves her current profile. In future she would love to be a dance teacher as she has done Arangetram in Bharatnatyam.

Kandice Caeiro

Kandice Caeiro has completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Post Graduate Diploma in Montessori Education. Prior to Gateway she has worked as a Flight Attendant and has also interned at an international preschool. In her spare time she enjoys reading and doing crochet work! At Gateway she is a Homeroom Teacher.

Khadija Rangwala

Khadija has a degree in Economics from Jai Hind College. After her degree, she knew she wanted to work in the field of Social Work.However to explore further and gain experience she worked at a CSR consultancy firm. She also interned with various educational organizations. Prior to joining Gateway, she was pursuing her MA in Education from SNDT University (completed one year, but decided that she would rather get her learning in a hands-on manner.) At Gateway, she is a Homeroom Teacher and teaches IGCSE subjects: Business Studies and ICT. Her passion lies in EdTech, Coffee and Food ? She loves R&D and Outreach and is a part of the Tech Task Force, PDP Coaching, FABLe Team and Mentoring Interns to name a few.

Kinnisha Andrew

Kinnisha has a BA in Psychology from Mount Carmel College. She has a MSc in Psychology from University of Mysore and an MA in Special Education K-12 from University of Oregon, USA. She holds a teaching license in the states of Washington and Oregon. Prior to joining Gateway, she worked as a Special Education teacher for the Renton School District, Washington as well as in a number of inclusive schools in Bangalore.

At Gateway, she is a high school Homeroom Teacher and teaches Math and ICT. When not teaching, she enjoys painting with watercolours, reading fantasy/sci-fi and trying out new food.

Lalita Chawla

Lalita has a post graduate degree in Physical Chemistry from Mumbai University. She has worked in various capacities in the Banking, Insurance, BPO and Education space. Her last asssignment was with Teach for India. Her passion lies in animal welfare, working with the under privileged, being with nature, trekking, reading , listening to classical music and travelling . She loves sports and has played badminton, throwball, and basketball at school and college level. At Gateway, she has been Homeroom Teacher for NIOS 10th for 3 years, currently a subject teacher across Middle and High School. This year, she is part of the Social Committee and mentors interns.

Mala Ahooja

Mala has Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therpay for Seth G.S college and KEM Hsoptial, Mumbai and has completed a Certificate Course in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA. She is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2012. She has been practicing as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist since 2010.

Currently, she works as the cordinator of our High School Adaptive Program that focuses on life skills and community engagement.Though she has moved to another role, Mala still loves to support the Sensory Motor team and is involved in their outreach endevours.

Manda Nambiar

Manda has a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Maryland, USA. She has been working at the Gateway School of Mumbai for 2.5 years and is currently a Social Emotional counselor. While studying for her undergraduate degree, Manda taught and worked in childcare, with 3 to 10 years old children. She enjoys singing, studying neurobiology and learning about Formula 1 racing.

Manika Khanna

Manika has her MA in Clinical Psychology. She has been working at The Gateway School of Mumbai for the past 7-years. She is currently the Vice Principal and oversees the admissions process. Manika works closely with the Social-Emotional team at Gateway and conducts individual and group sessions with students related to their social-emotional development, and supports teachers and parents with identifying and implementing child-specific behaviour support structures. Manika is an active part of Gateway’s outreach endeavors. Prior to joining GSoM, Manika worked in clinical settings providing therapy and conducting assessments.

Nikhil Menon

Nikhil is a Civil engineer by qualification, but it is his love for teaching that has led him to join the Gateway School of Mumbai. This is his first year with GSoM. Prior to Gateway, Nikhil has worked in various schools in Maharashtra teaching subjects like English, Math and Science. He has also worked as a Senior Engineer for Larsen and Toubro at various projects around the country.His interests include sports, reading, travelling and just enjoying nature and the outdoors. At Gateway, he is a Math and Homeroom teacher.

Nikhita Sharma

Nikhita has studied psychology and has done her MSc in Applied Psychology. She also has a Diploma in Special Education from TISS. She has worked as a school counselor in Delhi Public School, Hyderabad and in an Army Public School. Before joining Gateway, she briefly interned at a school for students with learning challenges.

She is a Highschool Homeroom teacher at Gateway and is also a part of the Research and Development and Communications teams.

She enjoys spending time with books, dogs and music. Music always saves the day!

Nikisha Kotwal

Nikisha’s journey has always revolved around innovation and creativity. During the final year of her Product Design Course at MIT, Pune, she had the oppotunity to work with the children at Adapt, Bandra, where she discovered her love for being around children and striving to help them lead fulfilling lives!

Prior to Gateway, she worked as a remedial educator at St. Joseph’s, Wadala and volunteered at a few organizations around Mumbai that supported Special Education Needs.

At Gateway, Nikisha is a High School Homeroom Teacher and teaches the NIOS Bakery and English subjects. The Research and Development team at Gateway, Exploring EdTech to optimize learning, mentoring interns and student transitions are a few other teams that she is a part of.

You will usually find her experimenting with the things around her, painting or reading articles or books that help her to think about the deeper meanings of life.

Nituna Barretto

Nituna has a B. Com degree from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and B.Ed from SNDT University. She also did her Teacher Traning Course from from St. Margret’s College, Mumbai.

Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with St. Xavier’s Boys’ Academy and D.Y. Patil International School, Worli in Mumbai,delivering ICSE and IB curriculum for over 8 years. Over the years in the field of eucation she has attended many courses and workshops like Making PYP happen workshop, Assessments in PYP workshop, Differentiating Instruction Word wide Harvard online course, Certificate course in Theraputic skills from Nirmala Niketan, Extensive professional development course on Global perspective and Geography from Cambridge.

She is working with Gateway since 2013, she taught IGCSE Geography to the first 10th grade batch as well as worked on developing the Science and Humanities curriculum. Currently she is the CIE examinations co-ordinator and overlooks the IGCSE programme, she also works with the curriculum committe, mentors content teachers as well as teaches IGCSE Geography and EVM.

Pooja Thakkar

Pooja has her Masters in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology from AYJ National institute for speech and hearing disabilities, Mumbai. She has been awarded certificates from the Maharashtra university of health sciences for being a merit rank holder in the state of Maharashtra during her final year bachelor exams. She is currently the co-ordinator of the speech and language therapy department at the Gateway School of Mumbai. Pooja has a keen interest in research too, and has presented papers in national and international conferences. Prior to Gateway, she has had an experience of working with many children with communication disorders and speech, language and listening challenges while interning with Pediatricians, Neurologists and ENT specialists in various hospitals across Mumbai.

Travelling is Pooja’s therapy!! She likes to quote Dalai Lama ” Once a year go to some place you’ve never been before…”

Prerna Dharamdasani

Prerna has a BA degree in Psychology from Jai Hind College and a B.ED in special education (learning disabilities) from SNDT University. Prior to joining GSoM, she worked as an intern in the learning supports department in many schools across Mumbai, including renowned schools like American School of Bombay and Mount Litera International. She has also worked on research projects, published a paper on addressing behavioural concerns.

She is a Homeroom and Math teacher at gateway. Currently she is also part of the social media team and a PDP coach. ?

She loves to read and enjoys myriad forms of music including Western and Indian classical forms.

Radhika Chandrasekaran

Radhika (or Chandu as she is referred to at Gateway) has a MSc in Clinical Psychology, BA in Pscyhology and is a certified ArtsBased Therapist. Currently, she works as the Lower and Middle School coordinator and Language teacher – although you’ll find her dabbling in a lot of other areas – especially educational technology, outreach and research. Trained in playback theatre, theatre of the oppressed and carnatic music, she is also passionate about the arts and their vital role in education. All these interests converge in her neverending quest to make the education inclusive and holistic.Prior to Gateway, she worked as a psychologist with children and other clinical populations at Drishti (Mumbai) and Snehadhara Foundation (Bangalore). When she’s not on-the-job, she loves to sing,play indoor games with her counsins and friends, swoon over the words in a poem or book, watch movies over a steaming bowl of maggie noodles and generally entertain the people around her with her dramatic.

Radhika Misquitta

Radhika has a PhD in Special Education (Learning Disabilities) from the University of Texas at Austin, and an M.Ed in Special Education, and B.Ed. in Special Education from SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. She is a founding member of the Gateway School of Mumbai. Her interests are in teacher education, in developing systemic supports for supporting children with disabilities,and in how technology can be harnessed to optimise learning. At Gateway, Radhika teaches Language to the High School students,supports with teacher development, strategic planning, and with the research department.

She enjoys drinking coffee, a good book, and spending time with her family.

Ridhika Shah

Ridhika holds a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology from TN medical college and B.Y.L Nair charitable hospital, Mumbai and is a gold medaliist in the state of Maharashtra for her final year graduation programme. Previously, she has held the post of the Co-ordinator of the Speech and Language therapy department at the Gateway School of Mumbai and has work
experience in hospitals, and private centres in Mumbai.

Currently she is the Co-ordinator of Grandstand, a unique social space at Gateway, where in large groups of children share, enoy and communicate with each other and are also taught to transfer various 21st century skills to real life experiences. She also runs her private practice where she works with children of all ages for various language, listening, speech and feeding difficulties in 1:1 and group settings.

Ridhika, a passionate believer in the power of positivity, tries to imbibe the same in her practice. If she’s not working, Ridhika is either
wandering away in a place obscure, exploring e new city or reading a book on a sunny beach.

Grandstand Coordinator
Rudri Joshi

Rudri has completed her Bachelor of Arts degree (Psychology majors) from Kishenchand Chellaram College, Mumbai University, followed by Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the S.N.D.T Women’s University. While pursuing her Master’s degree, she interned with Masina Hospital, Thane Mental Hospital as well as Shivaji Hospital at Kalwa as a Clinical Psychologist and gained
experience with testing and assessment, intervention programs, and therapies. Before joining Gateway, Rudri earned a professional degree of Bachelor of Education (Special Education, Learning Disability) and is an RCI licensed special educator.

At Gateway, Rudri works closely with The Maths Squad and supports with the maths curriculum design and implementation. She is extremely passionate about outreach and works on projects like Professional development programme (PDP) in order to support mainstream schools build inclusive practices. Her interests lie in exploring EdTech to optimize learning and facilitate inclusion for all students in the classroom. Rudri is an amateur cook, tech explorer, baby lover and an obsessive-compulsive chiller. She loves to watch sunsets and listen to Prateek Kuhad music.

Rupal S. Patel

Rupal has done a foundation course in Learning disabilites. She has taught children in St.Marys School(ICSE) on an honourary basis for 1.5 years. After that she joined Gateway school of mumbai as a support teacher to go deeper into special education. She likes to listen to music, dancing and travelling. She loves making friends and staying connected with them.

Sakina Gore

Sakina has done her Bachelers (B.Ed) and Masters (M.Ed) in Education from Pune University and MBA in HR from Ghaziabad Distence learning University. She is pursuing a MA in Psychology from IGNOU. Prior to joining GSoM, she worked as a teacher in Dawn Breakers High school, Nashik. She has been an intern with GSoM over a year.

Sangeeta has done a Master of Commerce from Mumbai University. She has been working with many different organizations and international schools like The Universal School, DAV International School over 11 years in the field of accounts.

Sanjana Nisar

Sanjana has done her Bachelor’s incommerce degree from K.C.college, followed by Master in Commerce degree from Mumbai University. Prior to working at Gateway, Sanjana has worked as a financial executive at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, she has also been entrepeurner with designing handbags and funded Drama Queen.
Sanjana is content teacher across High school. She is also part of social committee and mentoring interns.

Sanjana is a chai lover, foodie, loves to watch sunsets and spend time in mountains.

Sanya Modi

Sanya has done her Bachelors and Masters in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology from AYJ National institute for speech and hearing disabilities, Mumbai.Prior to Gateway, she has had an experience of working with many children and adults with neurocommunication disorders in clinical and hospital settings.She has also presented papers in national conferences.

She is currently working as a speech therapist at the Gateway School of Mumbai. She is also a part of Grandstand team in school and a PDP facilitator.

Sapna Soman Shekar

Sapna has a MSc Psychology from University of East London, (England). She is trained and certified to deliver the ASDAN Curriculum. Prior to Gateway, she has experience in educating and training students and young adults with cognitive special educational needs, learning difficulties and mental health conditions. She has primarily worked in various schools in Dubai, UAE. She is currently working as a Home room teahcer at the Gateway School of Mumbai. In her free time, she loves to dance and watch scifi/fantasy series.

Sara has done a B.A in Psychology from Jai Hind College, Mumbai University. She’s been singing since she was a toddler, and taught at The Singing Express after graduating. She then did a B.Ed in Special Education (Intellectual Disabilities) from SNDT University, Mumbai and joined Gateway in 2017 as a homeroom and math teacher. Over the years, she also pursued her interest in
music and was the assistant vocal coach for musical productions such as Grease and The Sound of Music, staged at the NCPA (National Center for the Performing Arts). Sara moved to the role of Music Teacher at Gateway in 2019 and has initiated the Gateway Community Choir; a choir for students,parents, teachers, their families and Gateway alumni. She’s also part of the Communications team and has been writing and editing The Gateway Buzz; Gateway’s monthly newsletter since 2017.

She enjoys long-distance running, hugging street dogs, listening to and making music and travelling to cold regions so that she can indulge in hot chocolate without feeling guilty about the calories.

Sejal Shah

Sejal has a B.ED in special education (learning disabilities) from SNDT University. She also has a M.Sc in Electronics from Gujarat University. Prior to joining GSoM, she worked as a resource room teacher in an Army Public School, Ahmedabad. She is professionally trained in Abacus and taught abacus and mental Arithmetic for two years.

She is a Highschool Homeroom teacher at Gateway. She teaches MLU and Language.

She is a part of the Communications team and a mentor for interns.

She loves to read and run. For her running is a stress reliever and helps her to disconnect from the world and just let it go!

Sheetal Waychal

Sheetal Waychal is a graduate from Maharashtra University of health science, India with a degree of Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2011. She is practcing as an Occupational therapist for more than 7years.She has persuaded her career in pediatrics, her domain is early intervention. She is specialized in Sensory integration therapy (USA). Also trained in, Brain Gym, Handle techniques and handwriting assessment and treatment. Along with that she is certified ChildBirth Educator (USA), She trains pregnant women for Ante natal & Post Natal care.

In Gateway School of mumbai her role is of Occupational therapist and home room therapist.

Sheetal is an animal lover and an animal rescuer, she loves to feed starys which is part of daily routine:)

Shilpa has done her PGD in Human Resource Management. She has 10 yrs of experienc in HR & last 7 yrs, she has been working with school. At Gateway, she is working as Admin Coordinator. In her free time, she loves to be with her son & make the most of the time playing games. Loves to listen to music.

Simran Advani

Simran has done her Bachelors (B.Ed) in Special Education- Learning Disability (Mumbai University). She has completed a Diploma course in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) from Dr.Madhuri Shah Nursery & K.G School.
While pursuing her Bachelors degree, she interned as a Remedial Trainee Teacher at Dr.Anjali Morris Education and Health Foundation, Pune.
As part of her ECCE, she also interned as a Trainee teacher at Dr. Madhuri Shah Nursery & K.G School.

She is a lower school Homeroom teacher at Gateway. She teaches Math, MLU and Language. She is a part of the Social Committee and the Grandstand team.

Simrit has done her Diploma (D.E.D.) from Dilkhush special school Juhu. After her course, she completed a year iong internship at Gateway School of Mumbai and then she got a permanent job as a teacher at Gateway. Currenty she is working as an Admin Assistant at Gateway itself. Also she is currently studying for her B.A. in Psychology from IGNOU uneversity. During her free time she likes to cycle and sing.

She is an animal lover.

Sonia has completed her B.com from Gujarat. Prior to GSOM she has worked with different schools as teacher, Preschool head, Cirriculum designer and also in the admin dept. She has also worked as Senior operations coordinator in an IT company located in Rajkot. She has overall 10 years of working experience. Its beien more than an year she is working with Gateway as Admin executive

During her free time she loves to experiment with food. She is music lover and loves to sing. Apart from this she also enjoys travelling,cycling and spending time with family and friends.

Steffi Lobo

Steffi has completed her M.com from Mumbai University and is currently pursuing B.Ed from Mumbai University.

Prior to GSoM, she volunteered to teach for underprivileged children and taught Sunday School at a local church. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

Steffi has been in Gateway for over 3 years and is now a High School Homeroom Teacher and teaches Business Studies and Bakery.

She is also part of the Tech task force, Mentoring Interns & Student transition teams.

Suresh has completed a Certificate Course in Hardware & Networking from Jetking Institute, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he performed civil work for 13 years, and then worked in Technical Support for a year. He has been with GSoM since 2012, supporting its development since the early stages.

Ujjwal Yadav

Ujjwal has completed her Master in Clinical Psychology. She is also a certified REBT practitioner from Albert Ellis Institute, New York.

She has worked in various facets of Psychology by catering to different age groups and organisations. She is a strong advocate for mental health and emotional wellbeing. Prior to joining Gateway, she worked as a psychotherapist with adults and corporates.

She works as a counselor with the Social emotional department at Gateway and is responsible for taking small group as well one on one sessions across all sections at Gateway.

In her free time she loves watching stand up comic shows. She finds colouring and listening to selective audio books therapeutic.

Urvi Shah

Urvi completed her Bachelor in Physical Therapy, from D.Y Patil College of Physiotherapy in 2010. Urvi is a Certified Neurodevelopmental Therapist, C/NDT and trained in Sensory Integration (University of Southern California Certified). Her expertise is in Pediatrics and has been practising as a clinical therapist for 10 years. She is one of the founding members at Gateway.

Prior to Gateway, she worked with Sneh Rehabilitation Centre in Mumbai. She also ongoingly consults and has her private practise outside of Gateway, In her 10 years of clinical practise, She has conulted at private clinics across various parts of the city like Enliven, Ika Childrens Centre and Evolve Polyclinic

In her freetime, she enjoys watching movies, hiking and likes to travel.

Varsha Makhija

Varsha is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. Currently, she is the CoPrincipal and overlooks the therapies and the admin department.

She has completed a Master’s (MA) in Clinical Psychology from University of Mumbai, India and has recently completed her B.Ed in general education.Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with a variety of non-profit organizations, corporate institutions and schools for over 6 years. In her down time, she enjoys reading, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.

Vikas Nerlekar

Vikas has completed his B.P.Ed. from Mumbai University and is a certified ‘D’ licence holder from AIFF. He is a Maharashtra Road Safety Patrol and Civil Defence Officer.

Prior to GSoM, he has worked with many institutes and international schools over a period of 9 years as a Physical educator, Football Coach and House parent.

He was Head of delegation for U-19 Football boys (2018-19) in School Games Federation of India (SGFI Nationals) from International Board Schools sports organisation (IBSSO) held at Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.

His U-19 Girls was Runners-up at West Zone CBSE Clusters in the year 2012 – 13 and they qualified for CBSE Nationals held at Greater NOIDA.

At GSoM, Vikas is working as a Sports Coach. He maintains a passion for teaching children the significance of lifelong learning,health and fitness.

Yesha Doshi

Yesha has completed a Certificate Course in Arts-Based Therapy from World Centre for Creative Learning Foundation, Pune and worked with children of the ‘At-Risk’ population. She has also completed a Post Graduation Diploma in Counselling from University of Mumbai and her Bsc. in Human Development from Nirmala Niketan College. She has been in Gateway for over 3 years and is now a Middle School homeroom teacher. She teaches subjects Math and MLU. She is part of the Tech and Yearbook Team, as well as the Community Choir. Prior to joining GSOM, Yesha has worked in Kenilworth Global Consulting Pvt. Ltd, as an Educational counselor and interned and engaged in various projects for over 2 years.

Yesha, in her free time, indulges herself into reading novels or learning new things. She appretiates creativity and is a nature lover.

She can walk around aimlessly for hours long with her playlist full of her favorite songs, admiring things and people around. Along with that, she enjoys playing and learning different sport.

Zara Parekh

Zara received her undergraduate degree in BA Psychology from Jai Hind College, Mumbai University. While studying, she taught a few students that were struggling learners on a one on one basis. Post her graduation, she joined a 2 year fellowship program offered by ‘Teach For India,’ an NGO that strives to help all children attain an excellent education. During her 2 years, she taught english, math, science, history, drama and music to underprivileged children in a government (BMC) school. Through this experience, she realised that she would like to delve deeper into the special education space, which led her to Gateway.

She is a lower school homeroom teacher at Gateway. She teaches Math, MLU and Language.

She is part of the Communications, and Grandstand Team, as well as the school choir. She is also a PDP Coach, and a mentor for interns.

In her free time, she loves to be outdoors and travel. She loves listening to music and doing hands-on activities. You will always find her with a cup of chai ?

Zeba Contractor

Zeba has completed her M.A. in English Literature and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from Mumbai University. Prior to Gateway, she worked at Hill Spring International School for 5 years.
Zeba explored learning beyond the curriculum while mentoring students for the World Scholar’s Cup, a global debating tournament. In June 2017, she volunteered at government schools in Sri Lanka, conducting after-school Language enhancement programs for high school students. This experience motivated her to co-found a creative writing workshop – Wordsmith’s Wizardry, in the following year.

She is curious about innovative learning strategies which encourage the use of hands-on activities, development of 21st century life
skills and global citizenship among students.

At Gateway, Zeba is teaching Language and MLU in Middle school, and Geography in High school.

In her free time, she loves reading sci-fi and thriller novels, binge watching reality TV shows and over-indulging in all things made of
chocolate!
