The Gateway Team

Great care has been taken to ensure that each and every teacher, clinician, and even non-teaching staff member at Gateway-Mumbai possesses the educational qualifications, prior work experience, and attitudes necessary to contribute effectively towards the success of our mission. At present, our team consists of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals with several years of relevant experience in India and overseas, qualified with Bachelors, Masters and even Doctorate degrees in Special Education from the most renowned universities in the UK, USA, and India.

Gateway-Mumbai invests tremendous time, effort and money towards providing its team members with opportunities for professional development (PD) through the year including: four weeks of intensive training during summer, monthly in-house workshops during ‘PD Day’, multiple opportunities to attend expert-led workshops and national/international conferences, and observation visits to our several collaborator institutions in the US each year.

    • Abhishek Panchal

      Arts Coordinator

      Abhishek joined the team in 2016. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Art Education from the College of Fine Arts - Boston University. Abhishek is a recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Scholarship Award, granted by GSoM to pursue higher education & has been a research grant recipient from the Tata Trust in 2017 to participate in a research residency program in Brazil. His focus lies in arts administration, teaching, curriculum and research in the arts. He is a certified IGCSE Visual Arts & Design teacher and also works as the curator and the production head for the GSoM art showcases. Prior to joining GSoM, Abhishek has worked with three art organisations as an administrator and art educator.

    • Aditi Khanna

      Homeroom Teacher

      Aditi has completed MA Education in Early Childhood Education from Bangalore University and B.A. (Hons) Psychology from Delhi University. Prior to GSoM she has worked with many schools as an intern and as a teacher for over 3 years .

    • Aditi Dalal

      Drama Teacher

      Aditi has a BA (Psychology) from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. She has received a distinction at Grade 7 Speech and Drama and holds a Professional Certificate in Communication Skills from Trinity College London. Prior to joining GSOM, Aditi has worked as a Drama teacher and Language and Communication trainer at Intrinsic Expressions.

    • Aditi Ghosh

      Language Coordinator

      Aditi has completed PG Diploma in Special Education Multiple Disabilities: Physical & Neurological from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai University. She interned at GSoM and as a Remedial Educator in pre-primary, primary and secondary schools. Prior to GSoM, she has worked as a Project Manager and Design Consultant in the urban development and infrastructure sector for thirteen years. She has a B. Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Bombay and an MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Aditi is also a freelance author who writes children's books (fiction and STEM stories for children).

    • Afaf Siraj Kazi

      Homeroom Teacher

      Afaf has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has taught in special education for a year.

    • Akshita Jeswani

      Homeroom Teacher

      Akshita holds a bachelor's degree in Mass Media and Journalism Honours from Jai Hind College, Mumbai. She was an advertising professional and had voluntarily worked on a couple of community projects like English Teacher at The Candle Project - an NGO in Versova, Andheri, painted houses for a remote village, worked on a farm in Himalayan Farm Project.

    • Alisha Nagree

      Speech Therapist

      Alisha has completed a Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nair Hospital and a M.Sc. in Psychotherapy and Counseling from the Institute of Psychotherapy and Management Studies, Global Open University. Prior to joining GSOM, Alisha has worked at various hospitals, special schools and learning centers as a Speech and Swallowing Therapist and Audiologist for over 9 years.

    • Andrea D'costa.

      Homeroom teacher

      Andrea has completed Bachelor of Management Studies under the University of Mumbai with a specialization in Human Resources. Prior to GSoM she has worked with Edelweiss Business Services Ltd as Learning & Development Coordinator. She has also interned with Air India and an NGO.

    • Aparna Vyavaharkar

      Instructional Coach

      Aparna has completed a Masters in Counseling Psychology and is pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Spl. Ed - Learning Disabilities) from Mumbai University. In over 13 years of working in the fields of psychology and education, she has worked extensively with children of ages between 4 to 11 years. She is well versed with designing course content for IB curriculum (upto Grade 5) and has varied experience comprising teaching, mentoring, counseling and administration. She has also volunteered for many teaching workshops.

    • Aradhana Bakhai Maniar

      Occupational Therapist

      Aradhana has completed Master of Science in Cognitive Rehabilitation from University of Westminster and Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Brunel University - United Kingdom, England. Prior to GSoM she has worked with many organizations as an Occupation Therapist over 4 years in India as well as overseas.

    • Ashita Landge

      Support Teacher

      Ashita has completed her Masters in Arts (Education) from TISS Mumbai. She has interned with reputed firms like Times of India, Nagpur as a Reporter and a Content Writer in Mobisoft Infotech, Pune. She has also volunteered as a teacher for Teach for India.

    • Bindiya Hassaram

      Individualized Programme Coordinator

      Bindiya possesses a Doctor of Philosophy(Ph.D) in Multicultural Special Education from University of Texas, Austin and she has worked in India and overseas for over 20 years in education in various capacities as a teacher, teacher educator, and consultant. At Gateway, Bindiya works with teams to plan curricula both at the grade and individual level.

    • Daya Chatani

      Counsellor

      Daya has completed a Bachelors in Psychology from McGill University, Canada; has completed the Association Montessori International (AMI) Primary Diploma from Foundation for Montessori Education, Toronto; and has completed the Autism and Behavioural Science Program and the Human Resources Management Program from George Brown College, Toronto. Prior to joining GSoM, Daya has worked as an educator and program developer in special education and early child care settings in Canada. Her work included research projects, individualized program development and social skills training, with focus on autism spectrum disorder.

    • Ekta Somaiya

      NIOS Coordinator

      Ekta has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT Women’s University (Center of Special Education). Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in general and special education, and has provided remedial education and assessment at clinics in Mumbai, working with Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.

    • Frazer Vaz

      Sports Coordinator

      Frazer has completed a Diploma in Physical Education from Samarth Vyayam Mandir, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he has worked as a Physical Educator in schools and has coached children’s and adult football clubs across Mumbai for over 9 years.

    • Gauri Sawant

      Nurse

      Gauri has P.G.Diploma in Hospital and Health Care Management from Symbiosis Centre Of Health care- Pune. She has worked in various multispeciality hospitals and health care setups for many years. She had also worked as an Infection control Nurse at Kalsekar Hospital Kalwa and with Gateway School she has worked for 5 years in the past.

    • Georgia Misquitta

      Homeroom Teacher

      Georgia has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ancient Indian Culture, with a Minor in Sociology & Anthropology. She has done an internship with Toppr.com as a content writing expert for a month, and was an intern at Gateway from September 2019 to March 2020

    • Gomathy Hariharan

      Homeroom teacher

      Gomathy has completed an MA (Industrial Psychology) from V.E.S College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai. She has also attended a disability sensitization course for people with multiple disabilities. Prior to joining GSOM, Gomathy has done an internship at Ayur connect.

    • Indira Bodani

      Founder

      As the Founding Trustee, Indira has conceptualized and directed the establishment and development of The Gateway School of Mumbai. Her experience in the field of special education began when she was serving as a teacher, for 5 years, at the renowned Sadhana School for children with special needs in Mumbai. After the birth of her first son, Indira spent 13 years in the USA working closely with a multidisciplinary team of renowned educators, therapists, and doctors, to support her older son’s developmental needs.

    • Indrani Chatterjee

      Library Media Specialist

      Indrani has completed a Master’s (MEd) in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with a variety of schools in the USA for over 30 years, and has received the Teaching Excellence Award from The Kentucky Education Association.

    • Jimita Shroff

      1:1 Support teacher

      Jimita has a Master's in Financial Management from University of Mumbai. She worked as a Support Teacher for a year at Mount Litera International School, and has also spent time as a preschool teacher at Daffodils and Jumping Genius. Jimita also privately tutors primary school students in Grammar.

    • Khadija Rangwala

      Homeroom teacher

      Khadija is pursuing Master of Arts in Education and has completed Bachelor's of Arts in Economics from Mumbai University. Prior to GSoM she has worked with an organization as an Associate for 1 year and interned with many educational organizations.

    • Kinnisha Andrew

      Homeroom Teacher

      Kinnisha has an MS in Special Education & K-12 Licensure from University of Oregon, USA (2016-18). She has worked as a Special Educator in many schools in Bangalore and Nelsen Middle School, Renton School District, WA for more than 3 years.

    • Lalita Chawla

      Teacher

      Lalita has a post graduate degree in Physical Chemistry from Mumbai University. She has worked in various capacities in the Banking, Insurance, BPO and Education space. Her last assignment was with Teach for India. Her passion lies in animal welfare, working with the under privileged, being with nature, trekking, reading , listening to classical music and travelling . She loves sports and has played badminton , throwball and basketball at school and college level. At Gateway, she has been Homeroom Teacher for NIOS 10th for 3 years, currently a subject teacher across Middle and High School. This year, she is part of the Social Committee and mentors interns.

    • Mala Lamba

      HSAP coordinator

      She is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2012. Mala has completed a Certificate Course in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA and a Bachelor’s (BSOT) in Occupational Therapy from Seth G.S Medical College, Mumbai, India. She has been practicing as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist since 2010.

    • Manda Nambiar

      Counselor

      Manda has completed a B.A in Psychology from the University of Maryland. Prior to GSoM, she has worked with many organizations as a child care assistant and has interned for over 6 years in India as well as overseas.

    • Manika Khanna

      Vice Principal

      Manika has completed a Bachelor's (BA) in Psychology from University of Waterloo, Canada, and a Master’s (MA) in Clinical Psychology - Infant and Child Development from the University of Indianapolis, USA. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked as a Counsellor and conducted neuropsychological assessments for LD/ADHD/ASD for children and adolescents at a variety of organisations in the USA.

    • Mariam Munir

      Communications Coordinator

      Mariam has completed a Bachelors in Special Education from SNDT University with a specialization in Learning Disabilities. Prior to GSoM she has worked for American School Bombay as a Learning Coach. While studying at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, she taught underprivileged children for 4 years at Aakanksha, and was also part of other programmes aimed at entertaining and educating children.

    • Nikhil Menon

      Math & Homeroom Teacher

      Nikhil is a Civil engineer by qualification, but it is his love for teaching that has led him to join the Gateway School of Mumbai. This is his first year with GSoM. Prior to Gateway, Nikhil has worked in various schools in Maharashtra teaching subjects like English, Math and Science. He has also worked as a Senior Engineer for Larsen and Toubro at various projects around the country. His interests include sports, reading, travelling and just enjoying nature and the outdoors. At Gateway, he is a Math and Homeroom teacher.

    • Nikhita Sharma

      Homeroom teacher

      Nikhita has completed a Masters in Counseling Psychology and a diploma in Special Education from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in various schools as a counselor and Life Skills Teacher for over one and a half years.

    • Nikisha Kotwal

      Homeroom Teacher

      Nikisha has completed studying Product Design from the MIT Institute of Design, Pune. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from IGNOU. Prior to GSoM, she worked at St. Joseph’s High School, Wadala for two years as a remedial educator. She has also volunteered at various organizations for children with special needs for over 6 months.

    • Nituna Baretto

      IGCSE Coordinator

      Nituna has completed the Teacher Training Course from St. Margaret's College, Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with international schools (ICSE and IB) across Mumbai, teaching and developing curricula for over 8 years.

    • Pooja Thakkar

      Speech & Language Therapy Coordinator

      Pooja has completed a Master’s (MASLP) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute For The Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai, India, and her Bachelor’s (BASLP) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, India.

    • Prerna Dharamdasani

      Homeroom Teacher

      Prerna has completed a Bachelor's (BA) in Psychology from Jai Hind College. She has also completed a Bachelor's (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from SNDT University. Prior to joining GSoM, Prerna has interned with Mount litera International and American School of Bombay in the learning support department.

    • Radhika Chandrasekaran

      Lower & Middle School Coordinator

      Radhika has completed a B.A. in Psychology from Mumbai University, an M.Sc. in Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore, and a Certificate Course in Arts Based Therapy from World Centre for Creative Living Foundation, Pune. Prior to joining GSOM, she has worked with with special needs children and other clinical populations, offering her services as a psychologist and arts-based therapist, for NGOs and private practices in Mumbai and Bangalore.

    • Radhika Misquitta

      Co-Principal

      Radhika is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and a Master's (M.Ed.) in Special Education from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in India and the USA as a Teacher Coach and Special Educator for over 15 years.

    • Ridhika Shah

      Grandstand Coordinator

      Ridhika has completed a Master’s (MASLP) in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology, from Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, India. She stood 2nd across Mumbai in her graduating year. She has been practicing at clinics across Mumbai as a Speech & Language Therapist since 2011.

    • Rudri Joshi

      Math Program Coordinator

      Rudri has completed a Bachelor’s (BEd) in Special Education - Learning Disabilities and a Master’s (MA) in Clinical Psychology, from SNDT Women’s University, and a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked at Masina Hospital, Thane Mental Hospital and Shivaji Hospital as an intern. GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Rupali Patel

      Support Teacher

      Rupali has done a foundation course in Learning disabilities. She has taught children in St.Marys School (ICSE) on an honorary basis for 1.5 years.

    • Sakina Gore

      Teacher

      Sakina has done M. Ed from Pune University. Prior to GSoM, she has worked with other schools as a primary teacher over 2 years. She has been an intern with GSoM over a year.

    • Sangeeta Dude

      Accountant

      Sangeeta has done a Master of Commerce from Mumbai University. She has been working with many different organizations and international schools like The Universal School, DAV International School over 11 years in the field of accounts.

    • Sanjana Nisar

      Teacher

      Sanjana has completed her Master’s (MCom) degree from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in the finance department of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, and has co-founded her own business - designing and manufacturing handbags.

    • Sanya Modi

      Speech Therapist

      Sanya has completed her Master of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD), Mumbai. Before joining GSoM, for 2 years, she has given many In- home therapies for various developmental delays, injuries or disorders and swallowing therapy for pediatric and adult neurodevelopmental disorders. She has also done her internship and volunteership as speech therapist at various places. She is also a registered member of Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).'

    • Sara D’Souza

      Music Teacher

      Sara has completed a B.Ed. in Special Education from SNDT University; a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education, and a Diploma in Pre-Primary Teacher Training from Vidhya Nidhi Education Society. SHe also has a BA in Psychology from Mumbai University. Prior to joining GSoM, Sara has worked at the American School of Bombay (ASB) as an intern, and has worked with children privately as a vocal instructor/singing teacher.

    • Sejal Shah

      Homeroom Teacher

      Sejal has completed a B.Ed. in Special Education SNDT University, Mumbai, and a Master’s in Electronics from Gujarat Arts and Science College. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked in different schools in Gujarat and Mumbai in teaching positions.

    • Sheetal Waychal

      Occupational Therapist

      Sheetal graduated from Maharashtra University of Health Science, with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. She has experience in the pediatric field in India and overseas for over 7 years. Having the sound ability to handle patients with physical and mental incapability, her domain is early intervention. She is specialized in Sensory Integration Therapy (USA) and Handwriting Without Tears (USA). She is also trained in Brain Gym, handle techniques and handwriting assessment and treatment. She is a Certified Childbirth Educator (USA), trained in pregnant women for Ante natal & Post Natal care. She has worked with children with Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Autism, ASD, ADHD, Learning Disability and many more.

    • Shilpa Gandhle

      Admin Coordinator

      Shilpa has a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Symbiosis Center of Distance Learning . She has worked with Vibgyor High International School and various corporate companies and schools for over 9 years as part of the HR team.

    • Simran Advani

      Homeroom Teacher

      Simran has a degree in Special Education with a specialization in Learning Disability from Hashu Advani College of Special Education, Mumbai. She has also completed the Early Childhood Care and Education course. She has done an internship at Dr. Madhuri Shah Nursery & K.G. School, Mumbai as part of the ECCE Course and Remedial Teacher Trainee as well as an internship at Dr. Anjali Morris Education and Health Foundation, Pune.

    • Simrit Nath

      Admin Assistant

      Simrit has done D. Ed from Dilkhush Special School and Teacher Training Center. She has done the internship with GSoM for a year and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Sneha Chhabria

      Admin Executive

      Sneha has completed a B.com from Mithibai Motiram Kundnani College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. Prior to joining GSoM, Sneha has worked in administrative capacities at corporate organizations like Wasan Toyota, Associated Architects and International College of Financial Planning in India for over 7 years.

    • Sonia Makar

      Admin Executive - Front Desk

      Sonia is a graduate from Saurashtra University and she has worked in various schools as a teacher and in other industries with the operations department over 7 years.

    • Steffi Lobo

      Homeroom Teacher

      Steffi has completed M.com from Mumbai University. Prior to GSoM, she volunteered to teach for underprivileged children and taught Sunday School at a local church. She has decided to pursue a career in education and GSoM is her first experience in the field of education.

    • Sunayana Korgaonkar

      Administrative Executive - Back Office

      Sunayana has completed a Bachelor’s in Catering, Hospitality Management and Administration from Alagappa University, Mumbai, and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from DCT International Hotel & Business Management School, Switzerland. Prior to joining GSOM, Sunayana has worked in administrative capacities at corporate organizations and in hospitality services in India, for over 6 years.

    • Suneel Singh

      IT Manager

      Suneel has completed a Bachelor’s (BSc) in Science from Kanpur University, India and a Certificate Course in Hardware & Networking from Jetking Institute, Mumbai, India.

    • Suresh Saroj

      IT & Infrastructure Manager

      Suresh has completed a Certificate Course in Hardware & Networking from Jetking Institute, Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, he performed civil work for 13 years, and then worked in Technical Support for a year. He has been with GSoM since 2012, supporting its development since the early stages.

    • Ujjwal Yadav

      Counsellor

      Ujjwal is a Clinical Psychologist with over 5 years of experience. She completed her education from SNDT University. Her work experience comprises of working with all age group across 6 years to 65 years. Her expertise lies in working on behavior modification in kids along with anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship issues among others with adults.

    • Urvi Shah

      Sensory Motor Coordinator

      Urvi is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed her Bachelor's (BSPT) in Physical Therapy from University of Mumbai, India, a Certificate Course in Neuro-Developmental Treatment from the University of Colorado, USA, and a Certificate Course in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA. She has been practicing as a Physical Therapist since 2010.

    • Varsha Makhija

      Co-Principal

      Varsha is a founding member of The Gateway School of Mumbai (GSoM) and joined the team in 2011. She has completed a Master's (MA) in Clinical Psychology from University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining GSoM, she has worked with a variety of non-profit organizations, corporate institutions and schools for over 6 years.

      • Vikas Nerlekar

        Sports Coach

        Vikas has B.P.Ed. from Mumbai University and is a certified 'D' licence holder from AIFF. He was Head of delegation for U-19 Football boys (18-19) in School Games Federation of India (SGFI) from International Board Schools sports organisation (IBSSO) held at Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. He was a manager for U-17 Football boys (17-18) in SGFI from IBSSO held at Jammu, J & K. He participated as a manager for U-19 Athletics boys (18-19) in SGFI from IBSSO held at Nadiad, Gujarat. Prior to GSoM, he has worked with many institutes and international schools over a period of 9 years as a Physical educator and Football Coach.

      • Yesha Doshi

        Homeroom Teacher

        Yesha has completed a Certificate Course in Arts-Based Therapy from World Centre for Creative Learning Foundation, Pune and worked with children with special needs. She has also completed a Post Graduation Diploma in Counselling from University of Mumbai. Prior to joining GSOM, Yesha has worked in Kenilworth Global Consulting Pvt. Ltd, as an Educational counselor and interned and engaged in various projects for over 2 years.

      • Zara Parekh

        Homeroom Teacher

        Zara possesses a Bachelor's of Arts Psychology major from Mumbai University. Prior to GSoM, she was working with TEACH FOR INDIA over 2 years and also was teaching and assisting children with learning disabilities on private basis.

      • Zeba Contractor

        Homeroom Teacher

        Zeba has completed her M.A. in English Literature and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from Mumbai University. Prior to Gateway, she was a teacher in the IGCSE section at Hill Spring International School for 5 years.
